My name is Larry D. Carroll Sr. I was born and raised in Washington, DC.
I am the owner of KAAOS Gym & Athletic Training Center. Plus, I am the Director at the Department of Education Fitness Center. I have over 25 years of experience in the health and fitness field as both a professional and an athlete. Fitness is not just my profession, it’s MY PASSION! I began my fitness career at Washington Sports Club as a fitness specialist and an in-house trainer. It wasn’t long before I knew personal training was for me! While personal training at WSC, I realized that I needed and wanted more. So, I expanded my knowledge and experience by becoming certified through the American Council on Exercise.
I providing services at a wide variety of corporate, government, and commercial facilities. These sites included the British Embassy, The Organization of American States, Housing and Urban Development, Department of Justice, General Accountant Office, National Labor Relation Board, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Transportation, Inter-Development American Bank (IDB Fitness Center), International Monetary Fund, Waldorf Fitness Center (formally Gold’s Gym), World Gym in LA Plata, Run-N-Shoot Athletic Center, Total Fitness for Women, Kaiser Permanente, and Lloyd’s Martial Arts Academy.
Through my work at all of these facilities, I have provided fitness instruction and services to individuals with a broad range of needs. I continually change the content and focus of my exercise classes and training to meet the need of the participants and to ensure that their goals are being met. My exercise programs have assisted clients with weight loss, muscle conditioning, toning, and enhanced athletic performance. I have trained all fitness levels from beginners to tri-athletes.
With respect to my athletic background, I began at an early age. During my junior high and high school years I competitively boxed, ran track and played football. I began competitive weightlifting in my early 20s. I moved from a national ranking of 166th to a ranking of 77th in two years. I also achieved recognition in the competitive powerlifting arena. I won numerous awards as a State, Regional, National and World Powerlifter. These include the National Athlete Strength Association Powerlifting National Championship (2001) – 1st Place; National Athlete Strength Association Powerlifting World Cup (2001) – 1st Place; and the National Athlete Strength Association Powerlifting Master/Sub-Masters Championship (2002) – 4 - 1st Places & American Squat Record. During this time I also earned a black belt in kickboxing. More recently, I have coached a youth basketball team in Fairfax County and worked as the strength and conditioning coach and lineman/special teams coach for a semi-pro football team.
My certifications include American Council on Exercise Personal Training; IGNITE Certified Trainer (i360 trainer), Training for Warriors, Spinning, Kickboxing, Nutrition, CPR, and AED.
In addition to my work I love spending time with my family, Reading, Parkour, Kickboxing, Boxing, Power-lifting, Hiking and Biking.
